Longtime San Jose Sharks defenseman and NHL iron man Brent Burns bid adieu to the West Coast on Wednesday. He was dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes as a part of a multi-part commerce at first of free company.
The 37-year-old blue liner has three years left on an eight-year, $64 million deal he signed with Team Teal that included a modified no-trade clause that required his permission if the tam needed to maneuver him. The Sharks will reportedly retain 33 p.c of that contract, leading to a $2.64 million cap hit over the following three seasons.
