When Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final commences on Wednesday evening, the Colorado Avalanche will look to dethrone the two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Before the Avalanche formally clinched their spot within the Final, ahead Nazem Kadri suffered a thumb injury towards the Edmonton Oilers, and it appeared his destiny for the remainder of the postseason had been sealed.
While his standing for the series-opener on Wednesday remains to be unclear, Colorado head coach Jared Bednar had an replace on each Kadri and veteran Andrew Cogliano.
