West Indies opener Chris Gayle has opened up about his worldwide T20 profession. It appeared to have ended on Saturday when the opener was given a guard of honour together with Dwayne Bravo, who has retired, after the match towards Australia in Abu Dhabi.
Chris Gayle was seen interacting with the followers and was cheered by his teammates after he bought out. However, the left-hander has confirmed that his World Cup profession has completed.
Chris Gayle admitted that he himself was nowhere close to his greatest within the match – 45 runs in 5 matches – and was disenchanted with West Indies’ marketing campaign, which ended with only one win in 5 matches.
“I was trying to enjoy the last game. It was a very disappointing World Cup for us; for me personally as well. This is probably my worse in a World Cup. But these things happen. It’s just sad that it came at the backend of my career. There’s still a lot to go in West Indies cricket. There’s some great talent coming up right now. All I can do is play my supporting role with them and just wish West Indies cricket all the very best,” Chris Gayle instructed ICC.
“We have a legend leaving the game today in DJ Bravo. I was just having some fun today; put everything what happened aside. I was just interacting with fans. Yeah, just having some fun since it’s gonna be my last World Cup game.”
Laughingly he added: “I would love to play one more World Cup, but I don’t they will allow me.”
Chris Gayle Reveals When He Will Hang His Boots
Chris Gayle revealed that he’d been given yet one more match for the West Indies to be performed again in his house city, Jamaica.
“I didn’t announce any retirement. But they actually give me one game in Jamaica in front of my home ground. Then I can say, ‘hey guys thank you so much’. I can’t say that [retirement] as yet,” he revealed.

He’s set to play the upcoming T10 match. The opener feels that the final sport may very well be towards Ireland subsequent yr.
“Next for me – go back home. Since the first game at the World Cup, my dad’s been ill. So I had to rush back to Jamaica tonight. He’s 91 years old. There’s a T10 coming up as well. Then I’ll take a break going into Christmas and the New Year and see what happens with the Ireland series back home,” the 42-year-old added.
Chris Gayle can be unlikely to be retained by Punjab Kings and would go into the mega-auction if he needs to play one other IPL.
